Whether physically impaired or learning disabled, adaptive technologies can support students with special needs. Some of the adaptive technologies are word processing, word prediction software, talking word processors, talking spell-checkers, and more. An example of this would be talking word processors which can r eview and edit one’s work, which can be so difficult for students who have poor reading skills, so this makes it easier by the use of text-to-speech  or talking word processing programs. Personally, I have never used one of these tools and not known anyone who has used one of these programs. Using these technologies in the classroom might be difficult because the school may not have enough funding to have them or there might not be enough kids to have the demand for these tools. Kids who do not need these tools may also try and use them, which would be detrimental to their learning because they are not doing the critical thinking that they s...

So far, I've gotten better at remembering that I need to tweet from my EME twitter account. The benefits for using Twitter is that we get to see each others' ideas and thoughts about the same projects and it is easy to connect with one another. So far, I haven't really experienced any issues with Twitter, since I have been using it for about five years. A new skill that I've acquired from working on the Web Page Design is inserting a calendar. I did not know how to do that before and now I do, which will be beneficial for me when I am a teacher. I liked this assignment because I will be doing this later on as a teacher, so it is giving me a chance to practice my skills. http://juliabarker.weebly.com I did not know how to use Diigo before, so everything we've learned from using it is a new skill to me. I love how you are able to comment and annotate articles and have the option to share them to the class or just keep them for yourself. Diigo can be...

This is a screenshot off of my high school's website. They have recently updated the website and now the teachers' websites are not posted next to their names. However, on the home screen there is now an option to log in, so I think that maybe if I was able to log in, there websites would become visible. My high school was Winter Park High School and anyone can view the website. I envision myself having a website for my class to accomplish my professional responsibilities. Since I want to teach kindergarten, my website would be geared to their parents. My website would include what we are working on in class and my goals for the students. It would also include my contact information, so the parents can contact me about their student and their progress anytime. I think the 3D printer pen could definitely be used effectively in a classroom with older kids. They would be able to create their ideas that they have in their head. I also think the 3D printer could also b...

(2) ILP "Design" - Sway

I created my Sway on the aspects of competitive cheerleading. Sway was pretty easy to use which was nice since it was my first time using the website. I chose to make my Sway about competitive cheerleading because it is one of my passions and it was something that I could teach. https://sway.com/ym3vnRqO0oQRHG8m

There are a lot of Web 2.0 tools that would be very helpful in the classroom. Personally, I think Edmodo, GoogleDocs, and Engrade would be the most useful. I have used Edmodo and GoogleDocs in the past and they have been very successful. They are very easy to use and the information can be easily shared. Although I have not used Engrade before, it sounds like a website I used in middle school and high school doing the exact same thing.    I used ProgressBook and Engrade sounds just like it. I do not think Slideshare would be very useful in the classroom because it can be done on GoogleDocs, and the students do not need to be flustered with so many websites.      I think that bubble.us is a very interesting Web 2.0 tool. It allows the teacher to write out the students' brainstorming ideas so they can see them all and how they can connect to each other. It lets the students see all of the ideas at once. I think it would ...

So far with my experience with Twitter has been okay but it can be better. I have personally been using Twitter for five years so I know how to use it well. However it is hard for me to remember that I have one for this class because I am so used to only having the one account. To do better with this, I plan on putting notifications on my phone reminding me to tweet. I have found this project beneficial because I get to interact with my classmates and get to see what others think are important regarding education. This Twitter account might be helpful in my future career because I could show future employers that I have been interested in education for a long time and am well versed in what is going on in the education world.      The digital divide can affect success because if students are on the negative side of it, they may not have the technology do complete their school work or may be stuck with lower grade technology that won't give...
